Liam Payne teased ‘weirdo’ girlfriend Kate Cassidy for leaving Argentina early just days before his death
Liam Payne poked fun at his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, for leaving Argentina early just days before he died.
“So it’s going to be a nice day, and then, you’re going home. Ha ha, loser, weirdo,” the former One Direction member joked in singsongy voice in a since-deleted Snapchat video circulating online.
Payne appeared to be in good spirits and shared with his followers all the fun things the pair had planned.
He talked about riding horses, playing polo and wrote over the video that he was having a “lovely day.”
Payne and Cassidy, 25, had seemingly flown to Argentina to support his former bandmate Niall Horan, who had a show there on Oct. 2. The “Strip That Down” singer also wanted to make up with his pal.
“It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken,” Payne said in a Snapchat video. “We’ve got a lot to talk about. And I would like to square up a couple things with the boy.”
However, Cassidy shared in a TikTok Monday that she was “so ready to leave” the South American country because she and Payne were only supposed to be there for five days but it turned into two weeks.
“I hate staying in one place for too long,” she said. “I was just, like, I need to go home.”
Payne and Cassidy — who began dating in 2022 — resided in a house together in Miami.
It’s unclear why the “Teardrops” singer did not go back home with his girlfriend, but he sadly appeared to spiral without her present.
Page Six has reached out to Cassidy’s rep for comment but did not hear back.
Payne had been staying a few days at the CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires, and on Wednesday afternoon, a hotel guest reportedly recalled hearing loud noises and screams coming from the singer’s room.
Eyewitnesses also noticed the “Say It All” singer acting “erratically” in the hotel’s lobby, with one guest claiming she witnessed Payne smashing his laptop after reading an email that “upset” him.
“It’s a high-end hotel, and his behavior was so out of place — people were just chilling,” the person identified only as Rebecca told the Daily Mail Friday.
“I went over, asked, ‘Are you OK?’ But he just kind of grunted. Then he said, ‘I used to be in a boy band. That’s why I’m so f–ked up.'”
Payne had reportedly been dropped by his record label, Universal Music, recently due to poor sales from his solo projects.
His ex Maya Henry had reportedly also taken legal action against him for his alleged “obsessive” behavior, which a source said made the “Night Changes” singer feel “extremely overwhelmed.”
The front desk manager at CasaSur Hotel called emergency services Wednesday to report a male guest who appeared “high and drunk,” noting that he was concerned they could harm themselves.
Shortly after, Payne fell from his room’s third-floor balcony and was pronounced dead. He was 31.

Authorities attributed his cause of death to multiple traumas that led to internal and external bleeding.
The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office said in a report obtained by Page Six that they do not suspect foul play but the death is still under investigation.
Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son, Bear, whom he shared with ex Cheryl Cole.
