Anthony Weiner ‘thrilled’ for ex Huma Abedin after her engagement to Alex Soros
He’s happy for Huma!
Huma Abedin’s ex, disgraced politician Anthony Weiner, tells Page Six he’s “thrilled” for Abedin after her engagement to billionaire Alex Soros.
We exclusively reported on Wednesday that Soros popped the question six weeks ago and the duo celebrated the happy news in Italy.
“I’m thrilled for Huma,” Weiner told us via email when asked to comment on the engagement. “They are remarkable people and I wish them much happiness.”
After our story broke, Soros posted an image of himself romantically proposing on Instagram.
A friend of Abedin’s for over 15 years told Page Six of the engaged couple: “The best way I can describe the relationship is effortless.”
The source also added of the betrothed duo, “After a lot of tumultuous years for Huma, she’s relaxed and happy and in love.”
Abedin, 47, who is Hillary Clinton’s former chief of staff, described in her 2021 memoir how her perfect world was turned upside down when Weiner, the onetime congressman from Queens, admitted to the sexting scandal in 2011 that would ultimately bring him down.

“Just like that, life as I knew it was officially over,” she wrote in the book, which was titled “Both/And: A Life in Many Words.”
Weiner’s political career — and his marriage — were subsequently torpedoed by further revelations of his serial sexting that even sent him to prison for sending racy texts to an underage girl.
He infamously used the nickname “Carlos Danger” when sexting at least some of them.
Since 2019, Weiner has tried a number of professional roles including crisis PR man, CEO of a Brooklyn glass company and local NYC radio host, a gig he landed in February 2022.
Some remaining supporters have even urged the ex-con, 59, to try a political comeback.
Abedin filed for divorce in May 2017 and has since valiantly moved on.
She said in a “CBS Evening News” interview in 2021, “One of the best things I’ve had in my life is my faith, and the belief that there is always a way through.”
The political power player also said of Weiner, with whom she shares a child, “He is my co-parent, and I learned the full truth, I processed it and moved on… I wish him well. He, I hope, wishes me well. I think he does.”
She’s now starting a happy new chapter in her personal life with Soros, 38.
Abedin, the Democratic political insider, and Soros, the son of billionaire Democratic donor George Soros, were first linked earlier this year when the duo posted a cozy pic from a Paris restaurant for Valentine’s Day.
Abedin confirmed she was dating Soros with the sweet pic and the message, “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
The power couple subsequently attended the 2024 Met Gala together in May, where Abedin wore a green gown with butterfly appliqués designed by Erdem. Soros went with a gray tux and added a gold bug pin to his bowtie to match.
One former senior Clinton aide had previously told Page Six of the pair, “It’s a classic Clinton World couple. Alex is the perfect match for Huma.”
“I’m thrilled for her,” another Abedin friend previously told Page Six of her relationship with Soros. “She works so hard and she deserves happiness. I just hope she’s happy — she’s been through so much.”
